Is the converse true? What happens in the classical special case? What about the degenerate cases? Where does the proof use the hypothesis?\"<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Personally, I believe that we should not only view physics as an application of mathematics. For me, mathematics is an autonomous self-consistent aesthetic abstraction of physics, which goes beyond the physical world, and which is intimately based on the human reasoning. There is a famous article by <a title=\"Eugene Wigner\" href=\"\/scripts\/search.php\/?q=Eugene+Wigner\">Eugene Wigner<\/a> (Nobel Prize in Physics) entitled <a title=\"The unreasonable effectiveness of mathematics in the natural sciences\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ams.org\/mathscinet-getitem?mr=824292\"><em>The Unreasonable Effectiveness of Mathematics in the Natural Sciences<\/em><\/a> (1960) and an article by <a title=\"Michael Atiyah\" href=\"\/scripts\/search.php\/?q=Michael+Atiyah\">Michael Atiyah<\/a> (Fields medalist) entitled <span class=\"title\"><em><a title=\"On the unreasonable effectiveness of physics in mathematics\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ams.org\/mathscinet-getitem?mr=2001571\">On the unreasonable effectiveness of physics in mathematics<\/a><\/em><\/span><em> (<\/em>2002).
